GeoTE is a youth-led organization working at the intersection of geospatial technology, environmental sustainability, governance, and community development. Guided by the strategic pillars Map, Innovate, Impact, GeoTE leverages data, technology, and youth leadership to strengthen evidence based on decision-making, promote inclusive development, and enhance community resilience.

In line with institutional strengthening and program expansion, GeoTE invites qualified, motivated, and results-oriented young professionals aged from 20 – 30 years to apply for the following internship positions for a period of ten (10) months.

Positions

1. Finance Officer Intern – Two (2) Positions

Purpose of the Role

The Finance Officer Intern will support the effective financial management of GeoTE programs, ensuring accountability, transparency, and compliance with organizational and donor financial requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • • Support daily financial operations, including bookkeeping and financial documentation.
  • • Assist in preparation of payment vouchers, petty cash management, and bank reconciliations.
  • • Support budget monitoring, expenditure tracking, and cost analysis.
  • • Assist in preparation of financial reports for internal management and donors.
  • • Ensure proper filing of financial records in line with audit requirements.
  • • Support procurement processes and asset management.
  • • Participate in financial reviews and internal control processes.
Required Qualifications
  • • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • • Basic understanding of financial management and accounting principles.
  • • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • • Strong attention to detail, integrity, and accountability.
  • • Ensure proper filing of financial records in line with audit requirements.
  • • Ability to meet deadlines and work under supervision.
  • • Previous internship or volunteer experience is an added advantage.

2. Administrative Assistant Intern – One (1) Position

Purpose of the Role

The Administrative Assistant Intern will provide administrative and operational support to ensure efficient day-to-day functioning of the GeoTE Tanzania office.

Key Responsibilities
  • • Provide general office administration and clerical support.
  • • Manage correspondence, filing systems, and documentation.
  • • Assist in organizing meetings, workshops, and trainings.
  • • Prepare meeting minutes and follow up on action points.
  • • Support logistics and coordination of program activities.
  • • Maintain office inventory and asset registers.
Required Qualifications
  • • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Public Administration, Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Development Studies, Law, or related fields.
  • • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • •Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
  • • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • • High level of professionalism and confidentiality.

3. Program Officer Intern – One (1) Position

Purpose of the Role

The Program Officer Intern will support the design, implementation, monitoring, and documentation of GeoTE Tanzania programs, with a focus on youth engagement, environment, governance, and geospatial innovation.

Key Responsibilities
  • • Assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing GIS and Open Mapping programs and projects.
  • • Support data collection, analysis, and reporting of project results
  • • Support GIS data processing, spatial analysis, and map production
  • • Contribute to project reporting, documentation, and preparation of presentations and training materials.
  • • Support monitoring and evaluation of ongoing projects, including data organization and basic analysis.
  • • Provide general Programme support and perform other GIS- and mapping-related tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • • Recent graduate in GIS, Geomatics, Geography, Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • • Basic knowledge of GIS software, preferably QGIS & ArcGIS
  • • Basic understanding of OpenStreetMap (OSM) and open data principles (hands-on experience is an advantage).
  • • Strong interest in open mapping, community mapping, and geospatial applications for development.
  • • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • • Willingness to learn, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • • Basic computer skills (MS Office / Google Workspace).

4. Communication and Social Media Manager Intern – One (1) Position

Purpose of the Role

The Communication and Social Media Manager Intern will support GeoTE Tanzania’s visibility, knowledge sharing, and digital engagement through strategic communication and storytelling.

Key Responsibilities
  • • Manage and update organizational social media platforms.
  • • Develop digital content aligned with programs and organizational branding.
  • • Document activities through photos, videos, stories, and reports.
  • • Support design of communication materials and infographics.
  • • Assist with media engagement, website updates, and newsletters.
  • • Monitor digital engagement and prepare communication reports.
Required Qualifications
  • • Bachelor’s degree/Diploma or ongoing studies in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, ICT, or related fields.
  • • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital tools.
  • • Basic graphic design or video editing skills are an added advantage.
  • • Creativity, initiative, and attention to detail.

5. Secretary Intern – One (1) Position

Purpose of the Role

The Secretary Intern will provide secretarial and administrative support to enhance organizational efficiency and professional communication.

Key Responsibilities
  • • Manage incoming and outgoing communications.
  • • Prepare official letters, reports, and documents.
  • • Manage schedules, appointments, and office calendars.
  • • Organize meetings and take accurate minutes.
  • • Maintain filing and document management systems.
  • • Support office coordination and administrative tasks.
Required Qualifications
  • • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Secretarial Studies, Office Management, Business Administration, or related fields.
  • • Strong typing and documentation skills.
  • • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • • High level of organization and discretion.

General Internship Conditions

  • • Internship duration is ten (10) months.
  • • Interns will receive structured mentorship and practical professional exposure.
  • • Interns are expected to uphold GeoTE’s values of integrity, innovation, accountability, and impact.
  • • Upon successful completion, interns will receive a certificate and professional recommendation.
